Enroll in the Be REAL Mercer Island Program and Study!
In partnership with the Mercer Island Healthy Youth Initiative.
We are recruiting participants for the Mercer Island Be REAL groups this spring-summer 2021. Be REAL is a six-week program aimed at improving the well-being and resilience of college students and youth. Groups are six weeks long and will meet once per week online via Zoom. You can select to be in one of the following groups:
Be REAL is a novel program created and evaluated at the University of Washington. It provides participants with opportunities to learn stress management skills, improve attention and focus, and discuss how these skills apply to daily life in a group setting. Each group will be co-led by two UW staff trained to offer Be REAL to youth.
If you enroll in this study, you will be asked to participate in one of the groups above and attend the weekly sessions. You will also be asked to complete 3 online surveys, one before your group starts and one after your group ends. If you enroll in the May group then you will be asked to complete a third survey in August (3 months after your group ends). If you enroll in the August group, then you will be asked to do a survey in May (3 months before your group begins). For your time in completing surveys, you will receive Tango Gift cards, which can be redeemed at dozens of stores. You will receive $20 each of the first two surveys, and $25 for the last survey - for a total up to $65.00 in gift cards for completing 3 surveys. Each survey takes about 15 - 20 minutes.
